Turning 50 is a giant milestone for all of us. While 30 and 40 marked changes in where we were at in our adult lives, turning 50 can feel like the start of a long slow slide into old age. Or it can mark the beginning of brand new adventures, whatever they might be. My name is Fiona Grisswell and these are my adventures - may they inspire you to go out and find your own.
Not a second childhood
When I was 8 years old, my family went on a month-long holiday to
the Yukon. Of all our vacations, this is the one that stands out in my memory. I fell in love with its rugged beauty and tried desperately to convince my parents to move there. I'm pretty sure my dad was on board with the idea but mom was a bit more practical.
I never forgot that summer and somewhere in the back of my mind, I imagined living there one day.

I’ve been a writer since I was five years old when I wrote a story about a family of horses who lived in a house with a sunshine-yellow kitchen
I have two kids and 5 grandkids (I'm the grumpy grandmother)
In 2020, I fulfilled a dream and bought my first kayak
